Graduate insight into securing an investment consulting internship with WTW

Created on 17 Apr 2018

A huge congratulations to Sophia on securing her Internship at WTW. Here, she gives us a great insight to how she found the process and gives a few pointers to future applicants.

Why did you choose this firm and this role?

I chose this firm because it has a globally profound reputation, along with such a dynamic and inclusive culture, that I wanted to contribute to. WTW also offered such a wide variety of roles, and therefore I applied to this firm.

I chose to do investment consulting because I am very interested in opportunities to connect with clients and hold a client-facing role, along with the ability to deepen my knowledge for the investment side of the role.

What was the toughest part of the application process? And your favourite part?

I think the toughest part was the assessment centre, and in particular the fact finding exercise, due to the time constraints and necessity to make quick decisions.

I think my favourite part was the interview, because it allowed me to express my passion for wanting to undertake the role, and my interest in the company. The interviewers also created a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere which helped me to answer the interview questions in a more relaxed manner.

Were you surprised by anything in the process?

I was surprised at how relaxed the interview was, but I was also surprised at the number of exercises that we had to do at the assessment centre.

What three top tips would you give your fellow Bright Network members?

  1. Plan for your interview.
  2. Smile and be yourself.
  3. Keep on top of time management in your video interview.

What was the toughest question you faced at interview?

What have you done badly?
