Pierre is a Psychology graduate from Keele University. He secured a graduate role as an Underwriting Assistant at CFC through Bright Network.
First, we’d love for you to tell us a little bit about yourself.
“I studied psychology at university but had no idea what I wanted to do after that.
In my second year I started looking for internships and that’s when I found the CFC internship. Looking forward six months to the end of my internship, it was one of the best opportunities I could have had, and I’m very grateful.
Here I am a year on, and I’m still working at CFC as an Underwriting Assistant.”
What motivated you to apply for your role?
“How young and modern the company looked was definitely a driving factor.
Being able to socialise and seeing the sorts of events the company organises, swayed my decision too.”
What was the application process like?
“The process was surprisingly simple but unique! I had to record a video and explain who I was and why I wanted to be a part of the team I had selected. Then there was an assessment centre to assess how you take in information I imagine and work with one another.”
What are you most proud of about your journey?
“Being new to the insurance industry, I was fascinated about what made it tick and wanted to learn as much as possible. During my 10-week internship, I loved the learning side of the internship, but also enjoyed experiencing it alongside the other interns in my team.
What I’m most proud of is that, after my internship, being invited back as an Underwriting Assistant – I couldn't have imagined a better start to my career.”
What are your tips for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
“I would say apply early and to as many as possible to increase your chances, as they are always challenging to apply to.
Approach every application and opportunity with an open mind and a willingness to learn.”
