Mayur is a International Tourism Management graduate from Liverpool John Moores University and he secured a Trainee Travel Consultant role at Hays Travel. 
First, we’d love for you to tell us a little bit about yourself.
“I wanted to go to university to progress my education and I was interested in the International Tourism Management course when I came for the open day.
I’m motivated to be a travel agent, because I love planning holidays and researching different holiday destinations.”
What motivated you to apply for your role?
“I really admire the history and company values of Hays Travel. They are a very supportive team, filled with friendly individuals and I could really see myself thriving there.”
What was your application journey like?
“I prepared for my interview by practicing answers for common competency questions.”
“I was nervous about not being able to answer some of the questions, so I practiced mock interviews with my university careers advisor, which really helped.”
What have you learned from going through the process?
“I’ve learned to be resilient and not give up.”
What are you most proud of about your journey?
“I managed to secure a job with a company I admire. I overcame the challenge of selling myself during the interview and highlighted the desired sales experience I had gained during my part-time job.”

What are your tips for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
“For anyone who’s done a degree in tourism and is looking to pursue a career in a travel agency, I’d recommend getting sales experience in retail or customer service environments whilst you’re at university.”
Tell us about the future. What’s next?
“I’m really looking forward to starting my job and to get stuck into training. I’m really hoping to develop further with Hays by taking additional training and would love to become a Store Manager in the future. I’m also looking forward to utilising my skills to create new innovative holidays.”
