Securing a graduate role at AlphaSights - Top tips from Josh, a Graduate Associate

Created on 15 May 2017

Bright Network member, Josh Baah, tells us how he got a graduate role with AlphaSights' Associate Programme and shares his top tips on other graduates applying now.

What initially attracted you to AlphaSights?

I chose AlphaSights as they are an established yet still rapidly growing firm,  maintaining their dynamic culture from their early start-up days. Every single person I met who worked there seemed to be young, passionate and motivated about their work. This is something I did not experience from other companies I had looked into. Through meeting employees at the Bright Network event and even throughout the interview process, I quickly realised this was the ideal fun, fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment I was looking for.

What was the toughest part of the application process?

I think I found the toughest part was the penultimate interview; you are placed into the position of an Associate and tested to see how you would perform tasks in the job.

What three top tips would you give to graduates applying now?

1) Make sure you spend a lot of time on their website, watching videos and understanding the role. If you don’t truly want to work for them they will realise.
2) Try and connect with employees through networking events - I met them through ‘Bright Network’s High Growth Innovators 2016’  event. This helped me understand the firm’s culture and exactly what they’re looking for.
3) Go into each interview with an idea of how the business works and the day-to-day processes.
