Gabriele is a Law student at the University of Exeter. She secured a Campus Ambassador role for Clyde & Co, through Bright Network.
First, please tell us a little bit about yourself. 
"I chose to explore a career as a solicitor because of the intense yet rewarding nature of the role. There are so many ways you can inspire others through what you do whilst improving people’s lives."
What motivated you to apply for your role?
"I applied to be a campus ambassador because it's a role that will challenge me. I am naturally quite introverted, but being a lawyer requires networking and client relationships.
I knew I needed to improve my confidence, so I decided that becoming an ambassador would encourage me to step out of my shell."
What was the application process like?
"I found the application process surprising as it required a lot more creativity than I had initially anticipated. It made me step out of my comfort zone to show my passion for the firm in a new and interesting way that would catch the firm’s attention."
How did Bright Network help you secure your role?
"I met some Clyde & Co representatives who inspired me to work with the firm during Bright Network’s IEUK online internship."
What have you learned from going through the process?
"I have learnt that I am far more confident and creative than I initially thought. Being under a time pressure meant I was able to set aside my worries and simply go for it. This surprised me, as I was able to come up with a unique idea for how I would present myself during the candidacy."
What are your tips for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
"I would say don’t put too much pressure on yourself throughout the process and simply enjoy yourself. Put your all into the application, don’t hold yourself back or second-guess your ideas."
Tell us about the future. What's next?
"I am looking forward to starting the role, and being the face of the firm on my campus.
I am hoping this will develop my networking skills and help me become a more well-rounded candidate for vacation schemes and training contracts."
