Daniel’s insights into securing a project manager role with Openreach

    Created on 23 Sep 2022

We recently caught up with Daniel about securing a project manager job with Openreach, top tips for the application process and how Bright Network helped secure the role

How did you make your application stand out?

The main thing was using the STAR technique. I used a variety of personal, professional and educational experiences to demonstrate the full breadth of what I can do and the skills I have.

What part of the application process did you find the most challenging?

I would like to say the assessment centre, but I actually didn’t find it too challenging. I think the initial two online quizzes that I found most challenging.

How did Bright Network help you secure this role?

Bright Network was very supportive! It was so useful to have Bright Network advertising all the graduate schemes. I could save the ones I was interested in in the order of deadlines which was helpful. I could also see all the requirements for each on one page.

What top three tips would you give Bright Network members looking to follow in your footsteps?

    1. Stay organised and keep track of applications you’ve made
    2. Consider work-life balance with the roles you’ve applied to. Don’t forget to consider all the benefits of the job, not just the pay. You can find this out by reading Glassdoor reviews - what are the employees saying about the company?
    3. Get yourself a career mentor to support you
