Are you interested in bringing your knowledge of life sciences and/or data science, analysis, and current trends into a fast-paced business with real-world impact?
As an intern, you would help us as we investigate a wide range of topics from the individual outcomes of health forecasting, to mortality research, cancer & heart attack rates and the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Note, that this is a 10-week internship with an expected start date on 23th June 2025. We have a hybrid work scheme with a minimum of 3 in-person office days required each week.
About the role
Join us in exploring the medical, healthcare, societal, and lifestyle factors which will shape the future of the global insurance industry. Using your expertise in desktop research, data analytics, and core medical knowledge, you will provide expert views on mortality, diseases, and health forecasting. Your insights, shared through publications, presentations, and conversations, will help transform medical advancements into our key business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Utilise quantitative and qualitative analytical skills to the latest research trends.
- Communicate your findings to a wide range of audience.
- Draft substantial amounts of text for publications and presentations, while also producing graphics, graphs, and visualisations.
- Work independently, while receiving mentorship from both the project coach and project sponsor.

The Life Research and Forecasting team at Swiss Re is an international, multidisciplinary research group that works on a broad range of topics such as mortality developments, cancer rates, ageing, COVID-19, and advancement in medicines & technology. With staff across Europe and Asia, we promote research-driven developments in best practices across Swiss Re.
We are a team from a range of scientific, medical and actuarial backgrounds with strong academic and business experience. We use our expert knowledge to consult on core trends in healthcare. We use our specialist knowledge to analyse healthcare trends, assess structured and unstructured datasets, and develop meaningful insights. Additionally, we establish strategic partnerships with universities, data providers, and research organisations worldwide
About you
We are looking for someone with broad scientific knowledge, strong analytical & communication skills, and a keen interest in the business impact of research.
Essentials
- You must hold or be in the process of completing a PhD or medical degree or be a highly experienced MSc, MPH (or equivalent degree) student. Your studies will likely be in the life/medical sciences, biomedical research, epidemiology or medical statistics.
- Excellent oral & written English and presentation skills (including PowerPoint).
Nice to haves
- Experience in medical and health data analytics (including Excel).
- Substantial written communications experience – both academic publications and/or commercial science comms.
- Prior experience or understanding of the medical, societal and lifestyle drivers that impact morbidity/mortality. #LI-Hybrid
