The role

This internship is part of the Wales & West Project Delivery Portfolio and based in our Chippenham office but may require you to travel occasionally to any one of our other offices or site depots. 

You will be part of an exciting and dynamic team delivering cutting edge Signalling & Control Systems to our customers across the Wales & South West of England region. Your 3 months will be spent undergoing “mini rotations” across the varios functions within the delivery team. These may include: Signalling Design, Signalling Test, Project Engineering, Planning or Project Management. 

Tasks will vary with each placement but may include work on live projects or work specifically designed to teach the fundamentals of what can be complex Railway Signalling systems. In addition you will be given the opportunity to take part in training events to support your learning and experience.

Essential skills and attributes

We are seeking innovative and inquisitive candidates that demonstrate the following:

  • Achieved or be on track to achieve a 2:2 or above in Engineering related degrees such as Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering.
  • Logical thinking, willing to self-learn and research, and take a creative approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work independently, safely and responsibly; take ownership of challenges and ideas and are looking to develop your ability to drive and lead change
  • Enjoy collaborating with others to find innovative solutions
