The base

We're based in the City of London - close to our clients, in the heart of the UK's financial centre and have everything we need to work flexibly.

The department

Group Risk provides oversight to the management of all risk types across the Schroders Group. As a global asset manager there is significant focus on the investment risk in client portfolios caused by from changes in market risk, credit risks, foreign exchange, interest rates, geopolitical and economic uncertainty. We have a strong focus on managing the operational risks that arise from managing such a large amount of client assets and the Group Risk team reduces potential financial, regulatory and reputational impacts by creating frameworks, developing policies and working with the business areas to deploy these frameworks and provide challenge and oversight to how the businesses are managing these risks.

The role of Group Compliance is to help manage Schroders' relationship with regulators (e.g. the FCA & PRA), advise colleagues on regulatory requirements and monitor our compliance with regulations. It is a global function that helps oversee policy and practice to help manage Schroders regulatory and reputational risks.

The programme

Our Risk & Compliance Graduate Programme is the perfect start for a graduate looking to develop their commercial skills and build a long term career in Risk or Compliance in financial services. Our two-year programme will offer you the chance to gain a breadth of experience across our departments.

As part of the Graduate Programme, you will also be given training to help you perform to the best of your abilities.

What you'll be like

  • Being innovative and inquisitive– you're able to think outside the box and bring a fresh perspective

  • Possessing a keen interest in financial services and understanding global trends and changing regulations
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, or the desire to learn to use them effectively
  • Willing to get involved in a variety of tasks and projects and work with a diverse team of talented, professional and friendly people
  • Having a genuine interest in building a long term career in Risk or Compliance

The knowledge, skills and qualifications we're looking for

  • An honours degree or equivalent – we're not fussed when it comes to your degree subject or predicted grade
  • You will be in your final year of study or already graduated
