Technology powers everything we do at Man Group. Our teams ensure the firm has a robust tech platform that facilitates alpha generation, portfolio management, trade execution, operations, compliance, risk management and accounting, as well as providing “firm-wide” end user collaboration tools.
What Does the Man Group Technology Foundation Programme offer?
Our Technology Foundation Programme will provide you with the opportunity to gain experience and take on challenges within four teams over a two-year period. Working within a dynamic global technology business will present you with the opportunity to work on projects with direct business impact learning from experts.
As one of our graduates, you will gain a thorough understanding of our business and having successfully completed the programme, will be well-placed to develop a long-term career at Man Group. Formal and on-the-job training will be provided to enable you to contribute to the business and each trainee will be receive personalised mentoring by a member of the senior leadership team.
Who Is Man Group Looking For?
We're looking candidates with a self-driven passion for technology and a flair for creative problem solving. You must be able to show that you have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in a fast-paced and innovative industry, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and are able to think critically, striving to generate new ideas. Successful candidates should be available to join in September 2024.
Requirements:
- Currently studying for a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics or a related technical discipline from a leading university
- A passion for technology and exceptional programming skills. Please include links to any relevant content (e.g., GitHub) on your application
- Experience of working with Python, Java, or C# .Net

What Happens After I Have Sent My Application?
Step 1: Application Review
We will review your CV and you will hear from us by email to confirm whether your application is being progressed. We do receive a high volume of applications so there may be a wait to hear back but we will be in touch as soon as possible.
Step 2: Technical Test
You will be given a technical test as the first stage of the interview process. This will be a timed assessment to be completed in your own time.
Step 3: Coding Interview
The second round of our process will be a 2.5-hour technical interview either in our office in London, or remote if you prefer. This will be assessing various comp sci fundamentals and problem solving skills.
Step 4: Assessment Day
The final stage will be an assessment day at our city office. The dates for these assessment centers are planned for 21st and 22nd November – please ensure you are able to attend one of these dates before applying to the position. We will advise you of our decision as quickly as possible following the assessment day.
Man Alpha Technology
Alpha Technology is a wholly front-office aligned business unit, responsible for all of the technology in Man Group that drives trading decision making. It numbers approximately 170 engineers who help drive technical innovation across the firm’s investment managers by application of a strong technology platform. It is structured into a number of distinct teams, some cross-cutting building technology and others aligned to an individual investment manager building specific quant or portfolio management tools, or systematic trading systems:
- Alpha Platform Technology – responsible for the common front-office platform, comprising Data Engineering, Python Research and Development Infrastructure and Linux High Performance Compute.
- Execution Technology – responsible for all Electronic Execution Technology and Trader facing tools.
- Risk Technology – responsible for front office Risk Technology and Risk Reporting.
- AHL Technology – responsible for technology specific to Man AHL, a quant systematic investment manager.
- GLG Technology – responsible for technology specific to Man GLG, a fundamental discretionary investment manager.
- Numeric Technology – responsible for technology specific to Man Numeric, a quant systematic investment manager.
- GPM Technology - responsible for technology specific to Man GPM, a private markets business focused on real-estate assets.
