The role
Due to continued expansion in analytical capabilities, James Fisher PLC’s Maritime Transport division are seeking a Junior Data Analyst to join our finance team, supporting financial planning and analysis. The purpose of this role is to support the organisation's market analysis efforts by collecting, processing, and analysing internal and external data sources.
This role is essential to providing accurate and timely insights that drive informed decision-making and strategic planning. As a member of the team, the post holder plays a key role in enhancing the organisation's competitive edge and ensuring data-driven success.
Principle accountabilities
Manage our production datasets
- Maintain information collated from a wide variety of sources by ensuring current data pipelines are operational and effective
- Maintain the accuracy and completeness of collected data by engaging with key stakeholders who consume subsequent reports
Insight generation and reporting
- Using these datasets, a successful candidate will extract insights and share these with the wider team in a clear and well-presented manner.
- Good understanding of the fundamentals relating to DAX, PowerQuery and PowerBI.
- Consistently look to improve and expand on our current capabilities and skills to ensure new methods for transforming data can be utilised.
- Support in tracking the impact of our team to the wider business by assessing the suitability of external data, and how this supports sales, quality and finance, amongst others.
Be dynamic to business needs
- As the business evolves there are consistent needs for ad-hoc analysis. From simple queries to deeper questions that will require a good practise of problem solving to provide insightful conclusions.
- Maintain a current knowledge of applicable industry regulations and guidelines to steer the business towards continued compliance.
- Undertake any other duties of a reasonable nature as required.
Qualifications and experience
- Experience in a data analyst role is desirable but not essential.
- Understanding of use of business intelligence packages or statistical computing software i.e. PowerBI, R, Python.
- For this role you will need to have excellent communication skills to aid reporting to management teams.
- Be personally energetic, dynamic, positive, and enthusiastic and possess the ability to think laterally and act through reasoned decision making.
This role although hybrid, will be based at our Seething Norfolk office therefore, you will need to be able to commute to this location.
