    Barnard Castle

The Barnard Castle site is located in the North East of England and is sited within the County Durham countryside. Barnard Castle is a key secondary site for GSK with a large number of New Products coming through development at site. We manufacture and supply a huge range of different pharmaceutical products from Sterile Products (Syringes and Vials) to Liquid Inhalations and Dermatologicals.   We have recently opened a new state of the art aseptic digital facility producing biopharmaceuticals.

The Electrical Engineering department in Barnard Castle is a small team of engineers operating within the wider Engineering function. You will work closely between the site Projects and Site Services Maintenance team, helping ensure our systems are safe and compliant and that our electrical infrastructure provides a reliable supply to the manufacturing site. Additional to the day- to- day electrical engineering tasks that you will undertake, you will also be aligned to several key electrical projects for the site. In these projects you will offer technical and, in some cases, administrative support. You will have the opportunity to gain experience in real world design and implementation of High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) projects around the site as well as utility improvement projects. Equally importantly you will learn and understand statutory requirements in electrical systems and ensure the adherence to all requirements.

Some of the projects you will be involved with include design and implementation of new HV switchgear on site (no live HV work) and infrastructure upgrades that are due to be completed in 2024.
