    Supply chain management is all about ensuring we can supply our lifesaving and life-enhancing products to people around the globe. Making sure that the right products arrive at the right time in the right place is no easy task!   

    We offer a wide variety of supply chain placements, from forecasting demand, production planning, raw materials management, to warehousing and supply chain logistics.  Wherever you are based, you’ll be getting stuck in and playing a key part in ensuring our products reach our patients and consumers in an efficient and timely manner.  

    During your placement you could be involved in a range of activities, such as: 

    • Project management – leading and delivering improvement projects 
    • Working with suppliers, customers and colleagues from around the world 
    • Data analysis and reporting 
    • Distribution chains for complex products that require changing temperature for sensitive goods 
    • Demand review (including gathering and understanding market intelligence on forecasts and supply chain complexities) 
    • Inventory management 
    • Building strong relationships with key third-party suppliers 

    You will be applying the skills you already have learnt at university and developing new skills such as team working, effective communication and time management. You will work with and learn from an experienced, multi-disciplined team who will coach and mentor you during your year to help you achieve your potential.

    GSK Classic Established Products, GSK House  

    A role exists in the General Medicine global planning team, who support Global Health and drive GSK Trust agenda with leading Supranational Organisations such as WHO, UNICEF, MSF etc. Get involved in Global Health projects.  This is a great opportunity to work with functions such as Legal, Global Affair, ViiV commercial; as well as external stakeholders including WHO, UNICEF, MSF etc. Strong communication skills and stakeholder management is key in this role.  During your placement with us you will get to  

    • Support and lead the new global health product launch in new markets 
    • Support and lead the product supply to remote markets including sanction countries 
    • Establish standard ways of working with key Supranational organisations.  
    • Get involved in Global Health projects 
    • Great opportunity to work with functions such as Legal, Global Affair, ViiV commercial; as well as external stakeholders including WHO, UNICEF, MSF etc.  
    • Lead or support new Global Health assets launch  

    GSK External Supply, GSK House 

    GSK Pharma Supply Chain is responsible for making and supplying GSK pharmaceuticals products around the globe and is involved with every stage of production from the infrastructure of the manufacturing sites, supply forecasting, regulatory inspections and the quality of the product for pharma. 

    External Supply within the Pharma Supply Chain (PSC) is an integral component of the end to end supply chain enabling commercial ambition through leveraging a trusted Contract Manufacturing Organisation (CMO) network that provides access to technology platforms and markets while optimising supply, alleviating constraints and delivering benefit.   

    Role 1 - ES Risk, Compliance and Operations. Includes participating in RMCB leadership meetings and using creative skills to improve and/or re-energise existing ways of working. The opportunity to understand the risks that lie across the business and learning to use the tools within RMS to track risks and ensure adherence to process. Supporting members of the team to collate and analyse data to help solve a problem. Participating in Management Monitoring related activities; utilising the tools for schedule adherence, monitoring the progress of reports completion and actions assigned following Management Monitoring inspections. 

    Role 2 - Supporting the CORE Analyst and Business Process/Systems Managers in ad hoc reporting. Including systems administration, collating and analysing data to help solve a problem. Understanding and looking for insights into the data to enable more informed business decision making. Involvement in development and implementation of new processes in External Supply and initiatives as part of continuous improvement in the business. 

    Role 3 - Will provide support to the regional operational supply teams who manage the day-to-day relationship with our CMOs to ensure efficient, timely and reliable supply of products. Supporting the management within the Europe region in ensuring continuity of supply for products/brands. Investigating and mitigating gaps in continuous supply. Liaising with quality, technical & procurement on various projects, utilising relevant systems to create master vendor data. 

    Role 4 - As part of the ES projects team Activities including assisting with the development of business cases and financial estimates, developing and tracking project plans to implementation, and managing stakeholder engagement throughout the project. 

    Role 5 - Will support the GSK External Supply Quality team. In Recording, monitoring and trending Key Quality Performance Indicators (KPI). Developing improved reporting, audits, MM, GEMBA and review of procedures. Participate in projects to drive periodic review of Quality Systems and Support communication and monitoring of quality data and information between CMO and ES Quality 

    Role 6 - Working with the Oncology team and wider Third-Party Sales teams and externally with Novartis External Supply Organisation. Role will include supporting the cutover transfer plans, monitoring adherence to plan; identifying areas for improvement and managing implementation. There will be scope for additional development work as we move through the contract life cycle and support of wider Third-Party Sales initiatives. 

    Role 7 - GSK External Supply Strategy and Procurement. This role involves working on a wide portfolio of projects within GSK and with our external third-party contract manufacturers. Supporting Category and Procurement Managers on request for quotations, supplier evaluations and continuous improvement opportunities, as well as spend and savings analysis. 

    Degree Requirements

    Must be studying an undergraduate degree in Engineering (accredited undergraduate degree), Business, Maths, Science or a related subject.

    You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You will be expected to provide evidence from your university to show you will be an undergraduate student for the duration of the placement year.
