The role

GE - Renewable Energy are looking for an On Site Services Specialist, this role will involve travelling around the mainland UK and Ireland to work on client sites to ensure:

  • All Service site activities are carried out to the highest standards of health, safety and quality.
  • Safeguards the Environment enabling continual improvement of SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost).
  • Ensure full compliance with GE Grid and client policies and procedures, and UK (and international) legislation.

Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Promote safe working practices and continual improvement in site safely culture.
  • Responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of the Service site projects, ensuring that agreed work is carried out in accordance with the pre-set time scales and costs.
  • Responsible for the integrity and quality of GE product installation, repair, commissioning, and maintenance.
  • Responsible for the undertaking investigative site visits to establish and report on equipment condition monitoring and equipment failure.
  • Responsibility for the daily management and setting to work of field resource to maximise the potential for successful Project and/or Service delivery.
  • Responsible for reporting to the Project Manager (and Field Service Interface Manager) and on matters of installation/maintenance/repair progress, resource requirements/utilization and engineering issues and contract variations.
  • Responsible for raising and issue of Site installation RAMS, Variations, NCR’s, TQ’s and Site Instructions. (Informing Solutions Group Site Manager/Project Manager/ Engineer of site installation variations where applicable).
  • Shared responsibility for evaluation, appraisals and reviews of GE technicians and apprentices.
  • Responsible for maintaining FSET Competence (CV updates).
  • To effectively manage and supervise staff to execute projects in line with client and GE expectations, programmes, and budget.
  • To ensure accurate on-site records, reports and quality documentation are created, filed and circulated in accordance with GE internal governance and GE quality plans.
  • This role will include extensive travel across the UK and potentially overseas.

Education & experience

  • Ideally City & Guilds / BTEC / NVQ / ONC / HND in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering.
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Substation Primary Plant Construction and installation techniques.
  • Substation secondary wireman experience.
  • Experience in the installation, repair, commissioning, and maintenance of HV Plant and Transformers.
  • Disconnector and Earth switch experience.
  • Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and a good understanding of the roles and duties of the Principal Contractor and Contractor.
  • Be comfortable working at heights and confined spaces.
  • Be happy working away from home and travelling UK wide, and possibly overseas when required.
