Traders at the D. E. Shaw group are at the core of our discretionary investment strategies, and we’re looking to train motivated and unique individuals to contribute to our inclusive and collegial team this coming summer. Joining a diverse group of colleagues composed of published authors, entrepreneurs, opera singers, International Math and Physics Olympiad medalists, and many others, trader interns will take on complex challenges that are ever-changing and reach far beyond the world of finance.
About the role
This ten-week program is expected to run from June 12 to August 18, 2023 in New York, and is expected to run from June 26 to September 1, 2023 in London. Because our approach sits at the intersection of finance and technology, our traders employ a number of technological platforms to analyze market data and make qualitative decisions based on this analysis. Trader interns will assist in general trading activities, monitoring markets and positions, and analyzing market events.
Ideal candidates will excel at problem-solving and have an interest in financial markets (absolutely no previous finance experience is necessary, however). Computer literacy is an advantage but not a requirement. Preference will be given to students approaching their final year of full-time study toward a bachelor’s or advanced degree, though all are encouraged to apply.
