What does a Data Science Intern do?

The Intern works closely with the Senior Data Scientists in order to identify data & model analytics solutions.  S/he is helps to ensure data integrity and quality and acts as key point of contact for data issue resolution.  S/he is able to develop an understanding of the needs of the Business and the intended project outcome to propose the right data.  While CCEP uses many core data sources, there is always the opportunity to learn about new internal & external data sources due to the variety of analytics projects.

On a typical day you could be

  • Supporting the Senior Data Scientist during engagement with Product Owners and Business SMEs to understand how data requirements will be supported during the analytical modelling process from source systems through KPI definition to visualisation
  • Exploring the data sources and defining data calculations contained in the data point catalogue
  • Helping define the data quality of the datasets underpinning the analytical solutions
  • Supporting clarity on data lineage and maintaining the data catalogue
  • Working with the Product Owners & Senior Data Analyst to establish data quality metrics, proactively monitoring data quality and conducting user acceptance testing
  • Working with the Senior Data Analyst to develop a comprehensive understanding of the business relevance of the data
  • Acting as a point of contact for the process of issue detection and resolution during projects

You can demonstrate experience in some of the following

  • Desire to help identify the most relevant sources of data to support project requirements and intended outcomes
  • Knowledge of analytics modelling and understanding of the important of data integrity
  • Knowledge of data issue resolution
  • Awareness of the agile delivery
  • Ideally some experience of FMCG
  • Curiosity
