We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Events, Community and Partnerships Intern to join our team in our Head Office at Hillington, Glasgow.

    About the role

    As an Events, Community and Partnerships Intern for Arnold Clark, you will complete a range of admin tasks focused on community and charity, while assisting the team with a range of events and partnerships.

    You will join a team of eight who organise a range of internal and external events, arrange partnerships with well-known organisations and regularly engage with local communities and charities. In your role, you’ll assist with day-to-day tasks and support the team to maintain healthy relationships with charities and communities across the UK.

    This is an ideal position for a student in their first or second year of university and college, and we are happy to accommodate the work around your timetable. Work hours are generally between Monday – Friday, but some events take place on weekends so flexibility will be required. The role will give you essential business and event experience, and once your studies are finished, there may be an opportunity for full-time employment.

    Part time: Usually Monday – Friday, but some events will require work on the weekend. We can be flexible around college and university schedules.

    Day-to-day duties

    • Managing email inboxes and responding to queries from charities, community groups and employees within the company.
    • Being responsible for community requests and building relationships with local charities and community groups.
    • Creating, maintaining and distributing an up-to-date events calendar for the team and wider Group.
    • Completing applications made to our Arnold Clark Community Fund campaign and awarding funds, working towards a budget each month.
    • Completing applications made to Arnold Clark’s Gear Up for Sport campaign, ensuring specific targets are met each month.
    • Assisting team members with tasks for events and community-based initiatives when required.
    • Cross-checking important event documents relating to our events, such as table plans, RSVP masters, bedroom lists and dietary notes.
    • Working with other departments in the business in relation to our daily tasks/ events, such as briefing our Graphic Design team on tasks required, and communicating with our Internal Print team to have artwork produced for an event.
    • Contributing ideas and providing research to assist with planning a successful event.
    • Assisting the team with tasks on the lead-up to an event and supporting the team on-site on event days.
    • Working with the Partnerships team to identify opportunities and execute benefits.

    • A willingness to learn new processes and develop a range of skills
    • Attention to detail to ensure high standards are always met
    • Demonstrate effective time management when completing tasks
    • Being flexible and able to take on ad-hoc tasks to help the team
    • Effectively managing a workload that may change on a weekly basis
    • Comprehension of Microsoft systems (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • An interest in PR, events and community
    • Creative and forthcoming with new ideas
    • A driving licence is not essential but would be preferred.
