Who will you be joining
Reporting to the Future Military Systems Team Lead, you will form part of a team defining end to end system architectures for a number of Milsatcom prospects, including the UK MOD’s next generation Milsatcom programmes.
We see this as a great opportunity to be part of some diversified and future looking programmes. Airbus Defence and Space is proud of what it was able to achieve with a successful industry/military PFI (Skynet 5), setting the standard and establishing what can be done with inter-satellite links, navigation and space-based networks. These are engaged roles within teams directly working the next wave of these technologies.
What you will be doing
Form part of a systems engineering team undertaking end to end architecture definition and design, spanning geostationary and low earth orbit satellite constellations, ground control stations and wide area networks. This will require understanding a diverse set of technologies, including those employed in radio communications and IP based networks operating in the space and ground segments. Tasks and responsibilities will include
- System level architectural definition and trade-offs;
- Working with Engineering Leads and Partners to define the segment and associated sub-system architectures, functional specifications and ICDs;
- System and subsystem functional specification;
- Requirements capture and definition from stakeholder needs through to sub-systems;
- Technical proposal inputs;
- Technical support to the bid team;
- Providing systems engineering inputs as required to support planning, schedule and cost activities;
- Interfacing with stakeholders on progress and problem resolution.
This role will involve some travel for business.
What we look for
To be a successful applicant to the Airbus Global Graduate Programme, you will need to demonstrate;
- Educated to a degree level or equivalent within a relevant field of study
- Maximum of three years relevant work experience
- Strong verbal and written communication in our business language (English)
- A desire to work in a collaborative team environment, focused on driving future innovation
- The ability to be self aware and a wish to be in the driving seat of your development.
What you will need to apply
- University degree or equivalent in Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Physics or related discipline;
- Familiarity with Systems Engineering processes and methods including Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE);
- Good presentation and technical writing skills;
- Good interpersonal skills and experience of working as a team and autonomously;
- Understanding of satellite platforms and payloads, satellite control, mission control, network operations and modem capabilities desirable;
- Knowledge of Military Satellite Communications Systems covering space, control and ground segments desirable.
