The other: using our technical skills, innovative thinking, and passion for progress to drive a sustainable transformation for the energy sector — and for society.

Here in the UK, we ensure that the power we need gets from its source to its destination, safely and efficiently. Whilst also investing in smart ideas, new technologies and great people that will play a central role in our global transformation towards greener energy.

Our Graduate Programmes

Our 18-month* Graduate programmes offers you the opportunity to develop your career within one of our three tailored career pathways: Commercial, IT & Digital or Engineering. With in-person and virtual development sessions to equip you with the essential skills you need, together with 1-1 coaching and mentoring opportunities to help you transition from campus to corporate life, we offer you the chance to complete three 6-month placements, across the UK, to develop your chosen speciality and broaden your experience to develop a superpowered career.

During your first week, you’ll be given a full development programme, tailored to you so you will be able to see what development you will complete during the 18 months and you’ll attend an in person induction with your peers.

While you’re on the programme, you’ll also be supported towards professional registration with a relevant institution. Our Engineering programme is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and you will be able to access a mentor to help you achieve your Chartership.

Our Finance Graduates join us on a 3-year programme and are included in all development activities with their entry cohort during their first 18 months and complete three 1-year placements alongside their formal qualifications.

Alongside your graduate programme, we create a variety of opportunities to Give Back, which includes volunteering with our Grid for Good programme, supporting the delivery of events for the next cohort of Graduates or promoting National Grid at a variety of events.
