The Business and Investment Group became proud partners of Bright Network before the start of the 2019 academic year and we had our minds very much set on running for a ‘Society of the Year’ award. Given our coverage of across the professional services industries and one of the largest memberships of any societies at LSE, we decided we were best suited for the ‘Impact on Campus’ award and wasted no time beginning to put together our video nomination.
To give a taste of the breadth of projects and events that we host, we made an effort to include keynotes, student-led project groups, panels and so much more to our video nomination as a means of showing how involved we are in the student community. We were delighted with the news that we had been shortlisted for the ‘Impact on Campus’ award alongside the Oxford Guild and Winchester Law Society – but of course the work had just begun.
We spent the following week using our social media presence and student network (both on and off campus) to drum up enough support and votes to win the award and guarantee ourselves a spot at BN’s Awards Lunch. Being recognised by Bright Network and our award sponsor ‘Frontline’ for our contribution to students’ life on campus was greatly rewarding and we were inspired to see the winners of other award categories at the Awards Lunch. The Awards Lunch also gave us the opportunity to network with awards sponsors over a really delightful lunch overlooking the best of the London’s skyline. Congratulatory speeches were delivered by James Uffindell and the team at Bright Network followed the announcements of the winners of ‘President of the Year Award 2019’ and Bright Network’s overall ‘Society of the Year.’
Bright Network’s Society’s Awards are a fantastic opportunity to gain recognition for the relentless work students commit to causes and societies to improve student life at their university. This award will by far stand out as a highlight of the year for us and we’d encourage other societies to seriously consider putting themselves forward in coming years.
