NHS Property Services (NHSPS) is celebrating 10 years of serving patients, customers and local communities with facilities management, property expertise and transformation of the NHS estate across England.
A key advisor to NHS organisations on all property matters, NHSPS has developed significantly as an organisation over the last decade, enabling its customers to focus on what they do best – providing excellent care to patients.
To celebrate the milestone birthday, NHSPS colleagues across the business – including one member of the team with a staggering 50 years of NHS service - have been featured in a short film highlighting some of the exemplary work they deliver.
With a portfolio of over 2,755 properties valued at more than £3bn, ranging from listed buildings to state-of-the-art integrated health campuses, NHSPS has evolved over the last decade, achieving significant outcomes for their customers. By working in innovative ways and collaborating with NHS teams locally, regionally and nationally, they have been able to support the delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan providing buildings which meet the needs of patients accessing new models of care.

Key achievements realised by NHSPS since 2013 include:
- Investing £907m to build and improve NHS buildings
- Reinvesting more than £504m into the NHS from property sales
- Enabling 8,023 new homes to be built via the release of surplus NHS land
- Providing 2.4 million hours of patient care via NHS Open Space
- Delivering 260 Healthy Places projects benefiting 3 million+ patients
- Reviewing over 4,000 planning consultation documents
- Submitted 400+ planning applications/pre-applications
- Saving the NHS £38m through energy efficiency programmes
- Launching 75 social prescribing hubs
- Preparing 80 estate strategies for CCGs and 44 for STPs
- Delivering the first ICS (Integrated Care System) estates strategy for Cambridge & Peterborough ICS
- Developing a workforce of 6,000 colleagues - including 5,000 hidden heroes - who keep our buildings in working order
- Supporting the NHS during the Covid19 pandemic to provide 1,000 additional beds, set up 23 mass vaccination sites and 227 Primary Care Network vaccination sites as well as conducting over 10,000 deep cleans.
