Top-tips from our trainees

Abby Basta

What would be your top piece of advice for this year's trainees?

No one is expecting you to know the answer yet. No question is a stupid question, it's useful to ask.

What have you liked most since starting at CP?

I really enjoy the flexibility of my role and being able to flex my working time around my life.

It helps me to create a much better work life balance.

What has been your biggest challenge so far?

The toughest part was overcoming the initial feeling of not knowing much, but once I did, things got much easier!

What would be your top piece of advice for this year's trainees?

Ask a lot of questions – there's a lot to learn especially at the start, so the more questions you ask, the better. Seniors will even think something is wrong if a new starter doesn't ask a bunch of questions.

What have you liked most since starting at CP?

I've most liked how I'm working with different teams every few weeks. It means I see lots of different styles and approaches to work, so I can figure out what works best for me.

What has been your biggest challenge so far?

The biggest challenge I faced would probably be tight deadlines for jobs meaning I have to be really efficient and selective with how I spend my time.

Mia Barlow

What would be your top piece of advice for this year's trainees?

My top piece of advice would be to come into the office as much as possible as it is a good way to meet people and easier to get help, especially at the beginning.

Definitely meeting so many different people!

What has been your biggest challenge so far?

I'd say the biggest challenge has been juggling exams, work and other commitments.
