Audit trainee – High Wycombe

Nihal Uddin, a trainee audit accountant in our High Wycombe office shares his experiences of the programme.

I have been with the firm for just over a year, and in that time I have gained experience working in a variety of areas (predominantly in audit and accounts), on clients such as: charities, trusts and SMEs. There has always been ample opportunity for me to progress and take on areas of audit files which have been challenging, but have allowed me to develop in my current role. The feedback I receive from my colleagues has always been constructive, allowing me to improve on my work output on a client-by-client basis.

The High Wycombe Team is extremely supportive and one can definitely say there is a ‘work family’ atmosphere in the office. We often plan month-end socials and office meals, which everyone looks forward to, and successes within the team are often celebrated. We also have an office football team, which is part of a local league – and win or lose, is often the talk of the office. This has brought the people that play together a lot closer to one another, something which I feel is key in the workplace.

There is also an excellent support system in place for my studies, allowing me to have time off to focus on my exams, and in turn enabling me to use what I have learnt in my day-to-day work, subsequently helping me to provide better client service.

Overall, my time with the firm has been nothing like I would have expected my first corporate role to be. It has surpassed my expectations and I look forward to contributing to the growth of the office and the firm.

Saffery’s trainee programme is of strategic importance in developing our future leaders. Many of our current directors and senior managers were part of the programme and trained at our High Wycombe office.
