Marion

“I feel like I’ve been able to make an impact on several levels. The Rolls-Royce graduate scheme enabled me to experience areas of the business which weren’t within my degree subject allowing me to learn a range of new skills.”

Marion joined Rolls-Royce Motor Cars as a graduate after studying Mechanical Engineering and completing a Master’s in advanced materials. Now, working as a Project Planner, she’s been with the business for almost six years.

"I wanted to continue to work with materials therefore the workshop graduate scheme was really appealing. I was attracted to the brand’s reputation and the opportunity to work on different placements.”

During the graduate scheme, Marion explored a variety of areas across the business, allowing her to discover the craft and dedication that goes into every product. She started in production, before moving to the Goodwood laboratory to learn about luxury materials. She then did a placement in finance, before a four-month placement in Germany.

“It was a great eye opener. I’d never studied some of those topics, so I was out of my comfort zone but it was really interesting.  It was good to gain a new perspective and network with a lot of people across the business.”

After finishing the graduate scheme, Marion began working on a project with the Engineering and Production teams in Munich. She worked on site, developing a new car model, taking on a lot of responsibility - but knowing she had a great team to support her.

"It required a lot of networking and drawing on my previous placements. I started working with engineering as well and I had to learn quickly to understand the challenges they were facing. Compared to where I was at the start of the programme, this was a big step up."

For Marion, succeeding at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars means making a difference in more ways than one. Alongside her role, she’s involved in workshops to advance our ways of working, shares new ideas with colleagues and collaborates to create a more welcoming, respectful and inclusive environment for everyone.
