Charlotte

"My manager was so supportive. She helped me to really get involved in everything because she knew that I wanted to grow my career here"

Charlotte first found out about the breadth of opportunities at Rolls-Royce Motor cars when she completed her internship. During her time as a Business intern, she gained a real insight into the working culture and built up a great relationship with her mentor. From then on, she knew she wanted to join the graduate scheme.

"I always had an interest in working for an international business, as well as the luxury industry, so Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is the perfect fit! I completed a placement during my studies and learned a huge amount during that year - that's why I applied for the graduate scheme. It was a great introduction to the corporate world, and it was so inspiring to have a female mentor. She helped me visualise where I want to go and see a path for myself."

During her time on the graduate scheme, Charlotte worked on a range of exciting projects. The close-knit environment of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars allowed her to develop and gain confidence quickly.

“The team at Goodwood isn’t massive, so naturally you get more responsibility and the opportunity to be involved with big projects. You also get to work with such a variety of people: regional teams and dealers around the world – I really enjoy networking across the business.”

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has also been active in supporting Charlotte’s continued learning and development, helping her to build her specialist subject knowledge, and grow her confidence with more complex projects.

“During my time on the graduate scheme I had the opportunity to study for my Level 5 Diploma in World Customs Compliance & Regulations. This helped me become really knowledgeable in trade compliance and helped me to succeed when working with the International Customs team in Munich.”

Charlotte finds that although she has a demanding role, the flexibility offered by the company means she can maintain a good work-life balance.

“I really enjoy the flexibility I have to work from home when needed, fitting in time for the things I love doing which is hugely important to me. I am so grateful to be able to do this alongside such an enjoyable job.”

Charlotte continues to explore different functions across the business - from Production to Assembly, discovering her potential and broadening her horizons.

“We get the opportunity to do secondments across the organisation which gives you a really full, rounded experience So even if you were a graduate on the Finance scheme, you could get experience in Production, Leather-Shop, or even in Assembly! I've learnt so much and gained a great understanding of how the business operates. Having worked and collaborated with so many different people, I’ve built up my confidence and increased my skillset even more so."
