Meet Yumna
Having studied Mathematics at university, I didn’t have prior experience in the technology consulting sector, but when I found Alfa’s graduate programme it really ticked all the boxes for me. The opportunity to tackle real client problems and learn to code, whilst still learning, provided the challenge I was looking for.
The initial induction training was one of my favourite parts of my time at Alfa so far. It helped me utilise the problem-solving skills I’d built throughout my time as a student, as well as build new skills. I became more confident in areas I wanted to explore, like consulting and being client-facing, all in a very supportive environment, with like-minded people, who became my friends.
After the initial induction training, I rolled onto an engineering team for my first rotation, during which I built up my coding skills, and then moved onto my second rotation in implementation. No day was the same on implementation - in a positive way. I developed many skills and learned a lot during this time; for example, it helped me build confidence with being client-facing, deeply enhanced the problem-solving skills which were required to solve client problems, and improved my functional knowledge of the asset finance industry itself.
The opportunity to work in varying roles and parts of the business has made me a more well-rounded and knowledgeable person.
I love working at Alfa, mostly because of the healthy, supportive environment that colleagues create during your time on the graduate programme and after. I also get to apply myself, and learn new things every day.
