Jessica Bridgman
Role - Strategic Planning Surveyor
Team - Land & Natural Resources
Based - Midlands
I studied an undergraduate degree in marine sciences at university in North Wales, one of my hobbies remains under the water, I am a qualified scuba diver to 30mtr and love the ecology of the marine and freshwater environments. I have a master’s degree in property planning and development, and I am looking to complete my RICS APC this year.
I have a feisty little one who keeps me on my toes turning three this year.
My role involves proactively progressing opportunities to maintain mineral continuity within the Tarmac portfolio. This involves seeking capital approval from the business to secure and promote opportunities that support the supply of aggregates into the construction market. Securing and promoting the land involves taking the project through the landowners and planning system with significant internal and external stakeholder engagement.
Another part of my role involves managing planning permission compliance on existing sites to ensure Tarmac operates under the approved schemes and agreements.
I started with Tarmac in 2018, after spending a few years working for a local authority shortly after graduating in 2016. After university and starting work, I remained unsure of what direction to steer my career in, but knew I enjoyed land management.
I was incredibly lucky to be accepted onto the competitive graduate program within Tarmac. I spent my first few years rotating around the Land & Natural Resources business and spent some time with Tarmac Marine, gaining valuable experience in the breadth and variety of work each function within the department undertook and met some lovely people along the way.
I was over the moon to accept an opportunity to work within the midlands team and continue to take each challenge as a learning opportunity to expand my skills set and professional network.
One of my highlights has been meeting incredible people who have supported me and continued to mentor me through my early career within the industry, I cannot thank them enough for their time, patience, and commitment.
