Meet Baptista
I studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Surrey, completing a master’s degree with a year-long placement, during which I worked as a QA Engineer, verifying the quality and stability of engineering software. This is where I got my first taste of the technology space, and I found myself very keen to continue in this area.
When I graduated, I was looking for a graduate scheme that allowed me to learn more about the technology sector and provided training to supplement this knowledge. That’s where I found the Alfa graduate scheme, which fit perfectly.
The graduate scheme began with training on both the functional and technical aspects of the product. I experienced this alongside a cohort of other graduates, and we bonded well during this time. I then proceeded to complete my rotations, starting with a year working within the software engineer team focusing on bug fixing and product enhancements. I was able to build my technical foundations with Java and best coding practices during this period, learning from very supportive colleagues. After this I rotated for a year to the implementation stream, working within the solution architecture team and collaborating directly with clients on the technical and functionality aspects of the Alfa Systems product and their integrations. I was given the opportunity to travel to meet the client abroad and see their processes first-hand, which was very insightful and rewarding.
Alfa offers great work-life balance and fosters a very supportive environment for growth and development. My colleagues are a pleasure to work with and really make you feel part of the team.
