We caught up with Amin, Reinsurance Graduate Broker at Guy Carpenter, to learn more about their journey with the company.
Please tell us a little about yourself
I am Amin, I studied Architecture at the University of Edinburgh and it was until my third year when I realised that I wanted to get into the finance sector. This is due to my personal interests and hobbies.
What do you do at Guy Carpenter?
My journey at Guy Carpenter started in September 2022, and so far, it’s been a great one. I am a Reinsurance Graduate Broker working within Global Specialties for the US Programme/Mortgage team. As a graduate I get the opportunity to rotate around different divisions in reinsurance, which helps me gain a wider market exposure!
Why did you choose Guy Carpenter?
This company stood out to me as it has a large global footprint with incredible clients. What I enjoy the most about Guy Carpenter and Marsh McLennan, is that growth is key, both professionally and personally.
What is the culture like there?
The culture in Guy Carpenter has amazed me, this industry is all about networking and building relationships, which means you’re not at your desk the whole day! You’re expected to have fun whilst working! If you’re looking for that work life balance, then you’ve found the right company.
What advice would you give someone considering applying?
One of my biggest pieces of advice for anyone joining this industry is to be yourself! You’re not expected to have a background in finance or insurance before applying, this role is for anyone and for you too!
