Marketing Content Executive, Raghav, provides insight into his time at Mediabrands below.
What is your role and how long have you been at Mediabrands?
I am a Marketing content Executive at Stickyeyes, Mediabrands in Leeds. I started working with the company a month ago.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background?
My name is Raghav Vashisht and I’m an MSc. Marketing and Management postgrad from the University of Leeds. Originally from India, I’m a very explorative person who likes to do a lot of stuff like music, gaming, sports, cooking etc (although I’m not that great in any specific thing 😝). Even in my educational background, I’ve studied all kinds of stuff like law, business studies, psychology, etc.
What inspired you to apply for this role/this company?
Previously working for another digital marketing agency, I felt that I would be better suited to a job that combines my general theoretical knowledge with my creative side that loves to write and tell stories. Therefore working in content creation and strategy felt perfect to me.
What has been the single most important thing you learnt so far in your job? The most important thing I’ve learnt while working at Mediabrands is the value of a positive work culture that recognises effort. This kind of culture has an incredible effect on your mood and productivity.
What would a ‘normal’ day look like for someone in your role?
An average day in my role starts with reading the briefs provided by the editing team and the client. We then work on writing and developing engaging stories and content for the client, while proofreading and optimising older material for better visibility. At the end, we usually discuss the work over a game of darts or pool!
What do you find most interesting with the sector/industry you’re in?
As someone who’s interested in a variety of subjects and explorative by nature, marketing and content development has a great level of appeal to me. For one it allows me to learn new stuff while researching a variety of subject matter and it allows me to gain experience and exposure from a hugely diverse clientele- from banking and business to medicine and entertainment.
What is the company culture like?
Mediabrands has an incredibly friendly and welcoming culture with regular socials that keep the community together. It is also incredibly sensitive to its employees’ needs and actively communicates with them about their issues. It is one of the main reasons why I love the company.
How important is diversity to you and what is Mediabrands doing in this space at the moment?
In my opinion, it's not what you say and rather how you act that displays a true colour of accepted diversity. Mediabrands does this quite well by organising a lot of diversity-focused events and having an environment that is simply built for friendliness, rather than trying to force the concept of diversity as an image. This actually helps in creating a calmer and more open environment for everyone.
Finally, any tips for anyone who’d like to apply for a role at Mediabrands?
Be Yourself! Try to apply for jobs that fit your own goals and interests and you’ll succeed in getting your dream job. Remember to be well-researched about the JD and how you can be an asset to the company.
