Why did you choose this firm and this role?
I chose to apply for GSK because I wanted to be part of an organisation that strives to make a difference for people’s lives. I study Psychology and am really interested in the people behind a business and the factors which allow people to be their best selves in the workplace – these factors combined made the HR placement scheme at GSK the perfect opportunity for me to explore this profession in a large-scale organisation where patients come first.
What was the toughest and what was the most enjoyable part of the application?
Both the toughest and most enjoyable part of the application will have to be the assessment centre. I admittedly felt nervous the night before and morning of the assessment centre, there were several parts to the assessment centre and not knowing what I was going to be asked was a nerve-racking experience! However, once it all began, everyone took the time to get to know each other (a few icebreakers!) and all the GSK employees really took the time to put me at ease – it was a great chance to get to know the culture at GSK at the same time.
Were you surprised by anything in the application process?
I was surprised by how friendly and welcoming all the assessors were during my assessment centre. I really felt as though they took the time to get to know me, help me feel relaxed throughout and answer all my questions throughout the session.
What's your top tip for applicants?
My top tip for applicants would be to make sure you prepare fully for each stage and get friends/family to help you practice! Practice makes perfect. Remember to relax and be yourself! This process is equally an opportunity for you to find out more about GSK as an organisation!
