Our Interns Share Their Top Tips for Success

Gartner’s internship program offers world-class training, professional development and unlimited growth potential through hands-on experience. Our summer 2023 interns have learned a lot about what this means and what it takes to be successful at Gartner, so we asked them to share their advice to help prepare future interns. Check out what they had to say below.

1. Take the time to learn about Gartner, your role and your team

“A piece of advice I would give to someone considering an internship at Gartner would be to just go for it. At first it may seem daunting working for a large company like Gartner, but the internship is structured in digestible chunks to help you really learn about the organization, your team and your role before jumping into things.” - David S., Sales Intern, North America

2. Be open to feedback - it will really help you along the way

“Gartner embraces a feedback culture, which I first noticed during the interview process. I was able to learn a lot during my interviews, and I recommend anyone considering an internship at Gartner to reach out and apply.” - Thea Angelina S., Client Success Intern, Barcelona

3. Lean into the experience and be a sponge

“I would tell a new intern to fully lean into the experience! Everyone at Gartner is a potential resource for you, so reach out to someone you might not normally get a chance to connect with. I would recommend scheduling “coffee chats” or time for casual conversations with someone you are interested in getting to know better. This can be with fellow interns, your mentor, manager, or members on your team.” - Kayla J., Research Intern, North America

4. Use the hands-on experience to grow professionally

“Throughout the internship experience, you’ll be given the opportunity to apply and expand your knowledge and skills in a real-world setting. Use hands-on experiences to bridge the gap between what you’re learning in school and practical application. In doing so, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the industry, learn best practices and tackle challenges.” - Anubha T., Sales Intern, India

If you want to work for an organization that invests in your future, then Gartner just might be the place for you.
