Daisy - People Graduate

Graduate insight into securing a position on the People Graduate Scheme with Liberty Global

Are you looking to grow a career in Human Resources? Daisy, a current People Graduate with Liberty Global, gave us an overview of the application process she went through to get onto the scheme.

What made you want to work for Liberty Global?

One of the main reasons that I applied for Liberty Global was due to the opportunities that are available for the graduates. For example, the Graduate Scheme enables you to take on an international rotation. I was also really interested in what Liberty Global does. Alongside owning some big-name companies, such as Virgin Media O2, they also invest in some really cool initiatives, like Formula E.

At my Assessment Centre, it became clear to me that everyone at Liberty Global is extremely friendly and helpful. I wanted to work for Liberty Global because they are genuinely interested in your development and career path - you are not just another graduate being employed that year.

Tell us how you found the application process

The application process was straight forward and easy to understand. The atmosphere at the Assessment Centre was friendly and encouraging. I felt like they wanted you to do well, they weren’t looking to catch you out.

I found the video interview was the most difficult part because it is an unusual situation to be in. We are all used to talking to people in person, and because of COVID we are used to talking to people over video calls but talking to just the computer was a little bit odd.

Do you have any tips for someone applying to the People Graduate Scheme this year?

My biggest tip would be to make sure you are prepared for each stage. Research Liberty Global and make sure you understand who they are, what their core values are and why you want to join your chosen scheme.

My other advice would be to ensure you know why you want to be part of the telecommunications industry. The industry is constantly changing, and a key skill that would help is the ability to respond to change well and an agile mindset and approach to work.

How do you align with Liberty Global’s values?

The values ‘United’ and ‘Connected’ really resonate with me as I have seen them every day since I started through how welcoming and helpful everyone has been.

Is there anything else you’d like to say about your experience within Liberty Global?

My onboarding experience at Liberty Global was really amazing. After I received my offer, the early careers team kept in touch monthly. We also received little gifts such as chocolates and a candle to help us with our university revision. My personal favourite was the Deliveroo voucher that we were sent to celebrate the end of exams. They also organised networking and social events that allowed us to get to know our cohort before starting.

Our People Graduate scheme is open for applications right now. If you want to follow in Daisy’s footsteps, make sure you submit your application soon.
