What training have you received for your role?

I am required to complete qualifications from the Chartered Insurance Institute. To support with this, we are enrolled onto an apprenticeship so 20% of my working hours are dedicated towards training and learning for the qualifications.

Alongside this, the Early Careers team organise a series of monthly calls for the duration of the graduate programme, covering technical insurance topics from the different solution lines at Aon, and soft skills training, including ‘Money Management’ and ‘Goal Setting’.

I’ve learned a lot from these sessions and I really appreciate that they are designed to leave graduates in the best position to navigate their careers after the graduate programme is complete.

Outside of your day-to-day role, are you involved in any extracurricular activities at Aon?

I am a member of Aon’s volleyball team and the Multicultural Network (MCN). Prior to joining Aon, I had no volleyball experience and only joined the team for a bit of fun and exercise! We have training sessions twice a month and have competed in a couple of tournaments – it has been great fun and I’ve met quite a few people through the team.

As a member of the MCN, I’ve attended a series of events hosted by the committee. I particularly enjoyed the Lunar New Year event – we got to hear stories from colleagues with

Chinese heritage and what Lunar New Year means to them. We also tried Chinese calligraphy and ate some traditional food!
