"A couple of things impressed me about Capital One when I discovered the business through Code First Girls. One was the fact that it has a female CEO."
Meet Iman...
Who joined us on our Technology Graduate Programme. Iman talks about getting involved, the focus of her day-to-day work, and the benefits of working as a part of team.
"While researching companies to apply for, I learned about REACH at Capital One. REACH is an employee network that celebrates race, equality and cultural heritage, and I though that was something I'd love get involved with. Fast forward a year, and I’m now its co-chair!
Work-wise, I’m currently on a team that creates, improves and maintains the services on our mobile apps and website. Of course, there’s a lot more to that than just coding. There’s onboarding to our pipelines, logging and monitoring – it’s a big job.
Though the work we do is focused on the back-end, it has a profound impact on a customer's experience. For example, we might be developing or improving the functionality of a service that enables them to make direct debit payments.
I've learned so much from the colleagues I work with, and frequently pair with more experienced members of the team. As well as sharing their knowledge, they've encouraged me to take on bigger and more complex challenges. And they're always there to offer help and support when I need it."
