Meet Raghvi...
Raghvi joined our London office as an Associate Consultant in January 2023, after completing a BA in Economics at the University of St. Andrews.
Tell us about your journey since joining Bain and Company!
I joined Bain in January 2023, and immediately joined the Private Equity group, where I have completed due diligence work for private equity clients in industries like financial services, tech, and mining. I have loved debating clients’ investment theses and the fast-paced nature of the work. Moreover, I have been able to work with a huge range of people across short projects and attend many case team events! I have also made great friends at the firm so far, which has made the job even more enjoyable.
What would be your best piece of advice for someone considering applying?
Speak to lots of Bainies and attend lots of consulting workshops and events to understand if the role is right for you. Once you’re sure, find good casing partners and start practicing for the case interviews. Take time to reflect after each mock case and do drills to overcome your weaknesses. Space your preparation out as its (almost) impossible to cram case prep without burning out.
What would be your top tip to final year students?
Final year of university is undeniably overwhelming; ensure that you’re organised and start things early so that you can balance university work, job applications, and everything else. Take all the help that you can get, e.g., from your university’s careers service, friends, and organisations like Bright Network. Also, remember that recruiting season is relatively short, and ensure you know what your priorities are each month so that you can keep focused, in and outside of applications.
Tell us about something that has surprised you about working at Bain?
I had heard plenty of great things about the Bain culture, but while I expected that the best of it would it be evident through the summer parties, Friday drinks, and start class ski trips, my favourite thing about Bain is the genuine and supportive people. Bain invests heavily in people’s development, such as through local and global trainings. Supervisors actively carve out opportunities for you to build your skillset and prioritise finding time to give you feedback. Staffing managers staff you on cases that fit your interests and provide opportunities for you to learn.
Is there anything you get involved in at Bain outside of your day job?
I am a keen artist, and with the Bain office’s proximity to so many art galleries, I decided to start a Bain art club. We attend art exhibitions, life drawing events, and host art-related talks in the office. It has been amazing to meet so many creative Bainees, and to be able to make time for my hobbies. Teams I have worked with have always been respectful of the time commitment involved in running this club, and have protected the time for me to plan and attend events. I have also helped with recruiting events, such as Bain’s True North Scholarship for Black Heritage students, and a workshop in collaboration with upReach.
