Tell us about your journey since joining Bain and Company!
My journey at Bain has been quite exciting since I joined a month ago. The first two weeks were dedicated to training, which helped me get up to speed with the Bain’s processes and culture. Currently, I'm working on an interesting international project in the tech space. To top it all off, I'm off to Ireland next week for a global Associate Consultant Training (ACT) period – it's been a great start to my career at Bain!
What would be your best piece of advice for someone considering applying?
My best piece of advice for anyone considering applying to Bain is simply to go for it! I applied on the penultimate day for the True North Scholarship program, not really knowing what to expect. As it turned out, my leap of faith paid off, and now I can say work at Bain. You never know what opportunities await you unless you take that first step, so really do just go for it!
What would be your top tip to final year students?
To final year students, I would say it's crucial to work hard on casing and start early. Your casing ability improves with confidence, which is developed over time. Make sure to learn the foundations of casing early on and build upon them, practicing more and more as you approach interview dates. The more prepared you are, the more comfortable you’ll feel – bettering your chances of success.
Tell us about something that has surprised you about working at Bain?
Since joining Bain, I've been pleasantly surprised by the amount of effort the team puts into supporting and nurturing new hires like myself. Especially since I joined as a ‘grad-hire’ I didn’t really know what to expect, know what was expected from me and so forth. But since joining, the effectiveness of the team approach, through the ‘One Bain’ philosophy has been more than evident with my team continuously collaborating and using check-ins constantly throughout the project.
Is there anything you get involved in at Bain outside of your day job?
My start class, like most Bainies, are a very sociable bunch, so we often get together for food or drinks when we can. I've also joined group chats and am looking forward to participating in Bain's rugby, tennis, and football matches against other corporate firms. Additionally, there's a peer group for first-year associates that has been helpful in meeting people who've been at the company slightly longer than me, allowing me to learn from their experiences and connect informally through events, discussions and more.
