Alpha FMC’s Blended Assessment

What is the Blended Assessment?

The Blended Assessment gives us a well-rounded view of your application, designed to assess your potential rather than your past experiences.

The Blended Assessment consists of a range of questions, including:

  • Scenario-based questions
  • Applied intellect questions
  • Short video interview questions and responses

The Blended Assessment has been created to look for perseverance, a willingness to embrace our digital reality and the ability to apply your intellect and creativity to a variety of work-related situations and problems. The questions you'll be asked during your Blended Assessment won't require any prior knowledge or experience.

How long does the Blended Assessment take?

The assessment will take between 45 minutes to 1 hour if you choose to do it in one sitting, however you can come back to it within 10 days from being invited to complete it.

If you require any reasonable adjustments, such as extra time or anything else, you'll be able to request this before completing your assessment.

Preparation

  • Do’s: Ensure you have thought through clear motivations for joining Alpha FMC, supported by a deep understanding of Alpha’s business and clients. Be prepared to discuss your unique qualities, how you differentiate yourself from other candidates and how you have prepared for a career in Management Consulting.
  • Don’ts: Whilst we recognise the value of AI technology in interview preparation, we kindly ask that you avoid reading scripted responses, as it can impact the effectiveness of your delivery.

How does the video assessment work?

The video interview part of the assessment (at the end) is timed. You will have a specific amount of time to prepare your answers and record your responses which will vary by question. The timings will be clear when you see the question on the screen. Please note that your preparation time will start when the question comes up on the screen.

There is an opportunity to take a break before you start the Video Interviews and we would advise you take that time to ensure you are prepared.

Please note that you cannot re-record your response once recorded, nor can you pause your response, or the preparation time once the question is on screen.

Things to have to hand and consider

Here are a few tips to note before you begin:

  • Keep an eye on the deadline in the run up to your assessment. You will normally have a few days to complete the test. Mark this in your diary and plan this time in.
  • Make use of the practice test so you know what to expect - look out for the link in your invite email.
  • When you're ready to complete your Blended Assessment, ensure you find a quiet space with good internet connection where you won’t be interrupted.
  • Have a calculator, pen and paper to hand before you begin.
  • The assessment will need to be completed in one sitting.
