At Alfa we believe that our actions should have a positive impact on those we work with and the communities around us. We are committed to making our environmental track record exemplary in our field and have set ambitious targets to help us achieve this.
We support dedicated Corporate Social Responsibility teams in each of the regions we operate in around the world. These teams draw from volunteers across the company and garner enthusiastic engagement from the wider Alfa community in all the activities we organise.
We align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to provide focus and consistency to our CSR efforts, with staff at all levels of the company proactively seeking to reflect our “Create a Positive Impact” value.
In 2021, our key focus is on developing a plan to implement carbon off-setting to achieve carbon neutrality.
Our teams and their missions
Environmental Social & Governance (ESG)
ESG is a core part of the Alfa culture. At Alfa, we believe our corporate activity should positively impact the lives of the people we work with, as well as the wider community. Our dedicated ESG Team has been in place for over a decade, with members drawn from across the company to help all of our colleagues in volunteering, fundraising for charity partners,donation of equipment such as old laptops to local schools, helping with local organisations such as Code Your Future, reducing our environmental impact, and much more
Green Team
At Alfa, we are committed to mitigating the impact we have on the environment and are always looking for ways to become more sustainable and environmentally friendly as an organisation. We have recently implemented a carbon-offsetting scheme and have updated a number of our policies to move towards lower carbon emissions.
Volunteering
Alfa's volunteering scheme allows all employees three days a year to volunteer, and gives them a great amount of freedom to choose how and where they want to spend this time.
We have offered a variety of volunteering opportunities over the years, working with youth charities, building gardens, picking up litter and working with schools.
Last year we volunteered with Ministry of Stories, an organisation that aims to build confidence, self-respect and communication skills in local children.
Fundraising
Every year we vote on a new charity partner (in 2021 this was Climate Coalition and 2022-2023 this will be the Food Foundation). We organise a variety of fundraising events throughout the year - from bake offs, to quizzes, to 10ks and marathons! - to raise money for our charity partner or another nominated charity.
