Advice from our trainees

Lana Massey

What would be your top piece of advice for this year's trainees?

I would say my top piece of advice would be to ask as many questions as you can, the more you ask the more confident you will feel and the more you'll learn.

What have you liked most since starting at CP?

What I have liked most since starting at CP is the people. Everyone is so friendly and happy to help you whenever you have any issues which makes you feel so supported and welcomed.

What has been your biggest challenge so far?

Definitely adjusting to the work/study/life balance. It can be hard to take time for yourself whilst studying and working every day, however as long as you prioritise yourself, everything else falls into place.

What would be your top piece of advice for this year's trainees?

Make sure you ask lots of questions. If you don't understand something it's much better if you ask for help straight away rather than keeping quiet and trying to get on with it. People are willing to help but they can't help if they don't know what the problem is.

Fraser Brocklehurst

What have you liked most since starting at CP?

The flexible way of working, it's useful to be able to mix up working from home and in office (when not required on-site).

What has been your biggest challenge so far?

Doubling exam revision, work, and other commitments has been the biggest challenge, can get pretty tiring particularly when close to an exam.

What would be your top piece of advice for this year's trainees?

The biggest piece of advice to the new trainees (audit) would be to ask as many questions as possible and ensure you get to know people from different year groups as often you won't have anyone else from your intake on jobs with you.

What have you liked most since starting at CP?

The thing I've enjoyed the most since joining CP is really being rewarded for hard work, when I've managed to get on top of my work I am in turn given a half day on a Friday.

What has been your biggest challenge so far?

My biggest challenge so far has probably been studying, I wouldn't say the exams are too bad yet, however, when working full time you can easily become overwhelmed if you don't manage your time well.
