Meet Egor
Hello! My name is Egor, I come from Russia and study at the University of Manchester. My degree is ‘International Business, Finance and Economics’. My interests mainly consist of trying new things: going to new places, learning different languages, trying out various types of sport and so on, and my favourite Pernod Ricard brand is Absolut!
What is your role at Pernod Ricard?
I am a Finance Intern at Pernod Ricard’s global Scotch whisky business, Chivas Brothers. More specifically, I work in the Business Analytics Team, our main job is to forecast the financial performance of our Scotch whisky business, as well as our individual products.
What would a normal day look like for someone in your role?
My normal day consists of analysing the potential financial performance of new products we plan to launch and analysing financial data for our reporting and dashboards. But there is way more to it – it’s a multi-faceted job which keeps me curious every day!
What exciting projects have you been involved in?
It is hard to say which project was the most interesting one, but I really enjoyed helping put together an internal presentation, which talks about our past performance and provides an insight into the future of the company.
What opportunities for learning and development have you experienced?
The whole job is one huge learning and development opportunity. Not only am I talking about the technical skills you gain, but also you get to develop your soft skills significantly in a very collaborative environment.
What has been the biggest surprise in your placement so far?
My biggest surprise so far has been that a company can care so much about its employees – both financially and in terms of wellbeing. We’ve got lots of support both in our Internship programme but also through our employee benefits for fitness, health and wellbeing.
