Introduction to myself

I have been at INVERTO as part of their London team for just over a year now. During this time, I have worked on multiple projects across various industries and feel well-placed to share my experiences to hopefully give an accurate representation to any new joiners of what life at INVERTO is like.

What my expectations were coming in

I anticipated a fast-paced environment that would offer plenty of opportunities for growth and the chance to work on projects across different industries; which is something I found really exciting.

I expected to be in an environment where I could learn new skills and face challenges to increase my soft and hard skill-sets. As projects are made up of multiple consultants, I was expecting a very team-oriented working culture which was something I was really looking forward to.

Regarding company culture, prior to joining INVERTO I had fortunately met many people from the London team both through the recruitment process and more informally through Linkedin. Because of this, I was able to ask probing questions to understand what life at INVERTO is really like.

So by the time I joined the company, I had a very good understanding of the great culture and fantastic learning opportunities within INVERTO. Whenever I asked questions such as ‘What is the company culture like?’ or ‘How have you found your time so far?’ I was always amazed with the genuine and positive responses.

Have my expectations been met

Absolutely! I completely underestimated the learning potential in 12 months from both the consultants around me, but also by facing individual challenges I hadn’t encountered before. The level of learning is really driven by the amount of independence and ownership you have when working on a project. I leave the office being able to really identify what I have learnt on a daily basis and that is a great feeling.

What I have found most surprising

How well structured the career development process is and how invested the entire company is in supporting employees at all levels to develop their skill-set and progress into positions of seniority. At INVERTO, promotion cycles are twice a year so the opportunity to have your hard work rewarded and to progress quickly is there.

I have a great career advisor who I meet on a monthly basis to discuss my current project and to understand the areas I can improve on. These conversations are really constructive and I am confident that I am as supported as possible to progress within INVERTO

What has been challenging

As with any consulting role, there will be periods of increased intensity where working hours and client demands are heightened. I wouldn’t say this is a challenge, just more of a consideration.

However, in my experience, INVERTO is great in monitoring project sustainability and I would not hesitate to ask for additional support at any point.

The real challenge is keeping up with all the team dinners, charity events and pub trips that are organised so frequently!

What to expect from the next 12 months

The return to client site is in full swing. I’m already travelling more and getting greater face-to-face interaction with client stakeholders, which is beneficial.

From a learning perspective, if I’m able to learn as much as I have in the last year, it will be a great 12 months ahead. As every project I work on is within a different industry, with various colleagues and towards different project deliverables, I expect to continue learning and taking on more responsibilities, which I find really exciting.

As I continue to learn and work with my career advisor, I hope to be pushing for a promotion within the next 12 months.

What has been my highlight

A few honourable mentions would be the ‘newbie day’ where I, along with a group of new joiners, went to Munich and was welcomed into the company; the annual conference which saw the entire company descend on Vienna to reflect on the year; or the recent ski trip where the London and Paris offices spent a long weekend in the French Alps discussing how we could make this a monthly event.

However, the highlight is definitely the team. The group of people at INVERTO are incredibly talented, amazingly ambitious and are some of the most genuine people I have met. They are at the core of what makes INVERTO such a great place to work.
