Are you attending a Bright Network event this year or do you just have general questions about our events? Below we've gathered the most frequently asked questions we get from our members - all in one place!

For further information about expected behaviour at our events, please read our code of conduct.

FAQs:

What will I need to get into the event? If your place has been accepted at the event, we’ll email you a ticket a few days before the event (except FESTIVAL). You’ll need to show this ticket to us on the day in either paper copy or download it electronically on your phone before the event. For FESTIVAL, you will need to just show up and we suggest bringing a ID to make it easier to check in.

What should I bring? Bring a pen, notepad and a bottle of water and you’ll be set for an excellent day ahead.

How should I prepare for the event? All firms will be receiving details of everyone who attends, so this is a real opportunity to be headhunted. This really will be your time to shine! Research the firms, make sure you prepare to network, get up to speed on the sector you are interested in, read up on commercial awareness and remember to ask any questions that might come up in your research. It will be a great early opportunity for you to get ahead in your career – whether you’re currently looking to secure an internship or a graduate role.

What is the dress code for the event? The dress code for all of our events is business casual. You can visit our Facebook page to pictures of our previous events for examples.

How do I know which firms will be attending? In the lead-up to the event, we will continuously be adding the partner firms that are joining us on the day. So make sure you keep an eye on the event page for the latest updates.

Will lunch be provided during the event? For full day events, lunch will be provided. For half day events, snacks will be provided in the afternoon, so please ensure you eat something before you join us for the day.

Is there a charge for the event? No, the event is completely free of charge for our members. But you need to be a registered Bright Network member and need to have been offered a place on the event in order to attend.

Can I get travel reimbursement for the event I'm attending? We would really like all our students to be able to have the opportunity to attend our events and we want to support where possible. Anyone attending our events (excluding FESTIVAL) in-person is eligible for a reimbursement of up to £30. To request a reimbursement, complete and submit the reimbursement application form that can be found in the FAQ section at the bottom of the relevant event page. You'll then be sent a payment details form. Full instructions on how to fill them out will be included when you receive the forms.

You need to attend the event in full to receive the reimbursement. Reimbursements will be sent out after the event you are attending. In order to be eligible, you need to have submitted both forms by the deadlines specified on the event page.

Please note: As we are providing students with the opportunity to meet top firms free-of-charge, and due to the size of the event, Bright Network are not able to cover travel expenditures for FESTIVAL.

I can no longer make it. Who should I tell? Please email us to let us know if you can no longer attend ASAP so we can offer your place to someone else. Failure to inform us could result in becoming ineligible for future Bright Network events.

What are the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) guidelines for the event? Bright Network is committed to taking the UK government’s instructions in relation to COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Bright Network events will adhere to the latest Government & Public Health England guidelines to keep our employees, members, and employer partners safe. If you are feeling unwell or exhibiting cold & flu symptoms, you will not be allowed into the event. We appreciate your help in making Bright Network events a safe environment for everyone. If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at events@brightnetwork.co.uk.

I'm a postgraduate. Am I eligible to apply? If the eligibility criteria includes postgraduates, then we welcome you to apply. However, these events are designed for entry level candidates so are best suited for applicants starting their careers. Because of this, as places are limited, we prioritise candidates with less than 2-3 year full time work experience.
