Thomas' success story: Securing an internship at Credit Agricole

Created on 26 Nov 2024

Thomas is an International Business with French graduate from Nottingham Trent University. He secured a Project Management internship at Credit Agricole in London through Bright Network.

First, please tell us a little bit about yourself.

“I’m a recent graduate from Nottingham Trent University. I’ve just spent a month travelling through Asia, where I deepened my cultural awareness and adaptability. It also strengthened my problem-solving skills and prepared me for working in diverse environments.

During my degree, I took the opportunity to study abroad at Kedge Business School in Marseille for two years. Here, I deepened my understanding of the distinct nature of international study and work.

I was drawn to the Project Management position as I believe I can leverage my relationship building and communication skills. This position offers a clear and structured path to enhance my analytical and problem-solving skills. I'm able to provide valuable insights, support financial decision-making, and contribute to accurate client management.”

What motivated you to apply for your role?

“I was particularly interested in working so closely to a senior member of the company and working beneath the COO."

What was the application process like?

“I had three virtual interviews, followed by a final interview, which was with an extremely senior member of staff. This surprised me, as I didn't expect to be tested by someone as important as him."

How did Bright Network help you secure the role?

“Bright Network enabled me to find the opportunity and track the deadline using their deadline tracker.”

What are your tips for people looking to follow in your footsteps?

"One tip I'd give is make a list of each place you apply to in order to track your progress.

Make sure you have a good reason for wanting to go into the sector you're interested in, employers want to hear about your motivations and it’s important to make them compelling.

Beyond that my only other tip is to keep plugging away and remind yourself that it can take time!"

Tell us about the future. What’s next?

“I hope to demonstrate my skills and capabilities. I want to be offered an extension to my contract and then eventually move into the asset management of the business.”
