Sharmin is a Electrical and Electronic Engineering graduate from the University of Southampton. She secured a Graduate Data Analyst role at EY through Bright Network. 
First, we’d love for you to tell us a little bit about yourself.
“I was the first person in my family to go to university and I graduated with a Masters in Engineering.”
What motivated you to apply for your role?
“I would love to get into data science and eventually quant, so I knew that this role would be a good starting point.”
What have you learned from going through the process?
“The more you apply the better! You get used to the process and end up working on it until it becomes a skill.”
How did Bright Network help you secure your role?
“Bright Network supported me throughout the interview process, kept me updated via email and gave me guidelines – they were super supportive!”
What are you most proud of about your journey?
“It was my first job after graduating, so I was very worried. Worried not only that I wouldn’t secure a job, but also that the career path is wrong.
I felt disheartened from apply so much and facing rejections, but once I secured the job it was great.”
What are your tips for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
“I would have started my application journey earlier in the year – that’s definitely the best advice I’ve got. Also use resources like Bright Network!”
Tell us about the future. What’s next?
“I’d love to develop my coding skills and then get into quant. I’d also love to work internationally at some point!”
