Wood is recruiting for a HSE Coordinator to join its Corporate HSE team focusing on renewable energy support, welding fabrication oversight, occupational health engagement and a chance to develop a corporate management system fit for the Consulting business. This role supports the EMEA Region HSE Manager and will be based in either Reading or Staines, hybrid working is available.

    This role supports all required HSE activities in three local offices, as well as one fabrication site. It has responsibility for ensuring that the company HSE and related activities are adequately maintained and implemented so that resulting actions are delivered effectively, minimising risks to the business.

    As a Safety Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards are met and maintained within our fabrication shop and within our corporate system. You will work closely with our team to implement and oversee safety protocols, conduct training sessions, and ensure compliance with corporate HSE management systems.

    Typical responsibilities

    • Offers knowledge and skills in order to generate and promote a positive HSE culture. This represents a key role in helping control business related risks in the organisation
    • Support Consulting HSE team with relevant data analysis of key reports and Wood Group systems – eg HEART, CAIRS. Point of contact for the HEART tool, ownership of monthly digitized dashboard, which identifies locations needing support.
    • Utilize the Consulting SharePoint site to share regular dashboard data, Heat map, risks and keeping HSSE team updated on callouts/ areas of action
    • Assist in planning, implementing, monitoring and reviewing all aspects of the HSE management system
    • Ensures that the company Management System certification remains operational
    • Supports the organisation’s aim to avoid operational losses, minimise brand protection issues and to assure continued process capability to its clients
    • Assists with the management of suppliers’ performance and be involved in project feedback
    • Maintains HSE performance databases in accordance with company requirements
    • Supports system, supplier and office based audits, close out audit findings, creating audit reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions, through Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
    • Keeps up to date with new developments and maintain a working knowledge of the latest and HSE related techniques and developments

    Qualifications

    • Prior HSE experience or formal education in lieu of

    Knowledge skills and experience

    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office to include Excel and VISIO
    • Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills
    • Confident self-starter who can work independently
    • Experience of working in and managing HSE Management system environment
    • Knowledge of internal, external and third-party certification audits.
    • Knowledge of HSE standards and legal requirements
