Wood is recruiting for a Graduate Digital Process Engineer for 2025 to join its Consulting business.

The role

This role will be based in Aberdeen but we would also be interested in speaking with candidates in other UK locations. In this role the graduate will support the development and deployment of digital technology solutions as part of our real time performance and emissions monitoring, asset optimisation and integrity management services.

We are looking for dynamic, versatile individuals with a desire to support fast moving projects in a variety of digital solutions across a range of engineering sectors, including but not limited to conventional oil & gas, energy transition and renewable energy markets, petrochemicals, and utilities. Our projects currently include hydrogen, carbon capture, renewable and conventional energies, with a continuous focus on delivery and client satisfaction.

Supporting global energy transition through decarbonisation and green energies is a key part of our plans and we expect to see significant growth in these sectors, while at the same time meeting commitments to existing hydrocarbon development infrastructure. In addition, Wood supports a wide range of industries to strategies, design and deploy different digital solutions.

Our graduate Digital Process Engineer will assist senior engineers, lead engineer, and subject matter experts to develop and deliver digital solutions, ensuring the technical requirements and overall product/solution quality are met as per client’s expectation.

The successful candidate will play an integral part of the solution development and deployment team, with opportunities to engage and work directly with our clients, gaining valuable experience from working directly on engineering projects with supplementary training provided to enhance and develop their key skills.

In this role, the candidate will be required to

  • Apply chemical engineering principles, digital technologies, and data analysis techniques to diverse engineering problems, such as renewable energy to conventional hydrocarbons, utilities etc.
  • Be involved in project planning, expediting and execution.
  • Assists more experienced technical personnel with specific aspects of more complex tasks.
  • Understand and be capable of writing reports to a high standard.
  • Participate in internal workshops and training lectures.
  • Become familiar with Wood’s systems and software.

Qualifications

  • Graduate engineers with a minimum 2:1 BEng in Chemical Engineering/Technical field or a Master’s degree from a recognized university in a relevant subject
  • Graduate level understanding of Engineering practices, design methods and calculations.
  • Competency in programming languages, preferably Python or R.
  • Demonstrable skills that show an understanding of digital data analysis techniques
  • Good to have knowledge and experience of Process Simulation Tools like Aspen HYSYS or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of trends and economic conditions affecting the technical field
  • Preference will be given to graduates with previous appropriate industry experience gained before, during or after their university courses.
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary team environments.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
