WithSecure Consulting is a leading cyber security consultancy with a recognised history of generating world class research. Our consultants identify problems, evaluate security threats, assess risk and implement solutions to defend against the latest threats in cyber security. They also regularly speak at major conferences including DEF CON, Disobey and Black Hat, and our clients include some of the most prestigious in the world.

Spend your summer developing your hacking skills, researching cutting-edge security topics, and gaining hands-on experience working with our cyber security specialists.

WithSecure is offering paid summer internships with our consultancy team, where interns will have the opportunity to experience cyber security consulting in the real world, as well as work on a security-related research project. The length of the programme is typically 10 weeks long, and successful internships may lead to full time employment.

What does the WithSecure Consulting Internship Programme look like?

Interns at WithSecure complete practical training courses in areas including application security, network security, reverse engineering, and more to provide them with the core technical skills required by security specialists around the globe.

A range of research projects are available, and there is flexibility if candidates have a project or idea they would particularly like to work on.

Upon completion of training, interns work side by side with WithSecure's world-renowned researchers to investigate an area of their choosing. Past research topics have included cloud security, the Windows kernel, vulnerabilities in IoT devices, and machine learning applications to security. Successful intern projects often turn into public vulnerability disclosures, educational material for the community, and conference talks.

Interns will be based in our London office and will be assisted by our current WithSecure consultants and researchers. Here's what our past interns had to say about their experience:

"I came into the internship without knowing much about cyber security but was able to learn loads in a really short time. The internship allowed me to explore different areas of cybersecurity and has led to a career in the field. Really recommend it, even if you think you don't know much about hacking."
Rose Laurie - 2022 Summer Intern, now a WithSecure Threat Hunter.

"The internship was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, the training was absolutely great, really informative, and I learnt so much from the experience. Everyone we worked with was lovely, happy to chat about the industry, and filled with interesting knowledge; overall a very valuable experience that helped me find a career in this field. I highly recommend it!"
Alex Pettifer - 2023 Summer Intern, now a WithSecure Security Consultant.

The job

  • Comprehensive training in cyber security consultancy - the same stuff we give our full-time new starters to get them ready for the job
  • Opportunities to shadow on real jobs - usually application/cloud/network and mobile security
  • A research project in an area of your choice. Usually there's a list of projects people want you to do, but we're also keen to support interns' original ideas!

  • Current students expecting to graduate in 2026 or later are especially encouraged to apply

*We recruit on a rolling basis and reserve the right to close our vacancies once we have enough applications/based on volume of applications. We encourage you to apply as early as possible to ensure you obtain the place you want in the application process.
