Your graduate scheme

At Welsh Water, we have developed a Graduate Programme, which will develop leaders for the future, which promotes work to be completed across the business in a compliant manner, safely, on time and to budget, whilst motivating our people to continually improve what they do and ‘earn the trust of our customers every day’.

It's our job to look after your water, and although rain falls freely from the sky, we put a lot of work, energy and love into getting every single drop of water to you. We supply high quality drinking water to over 3 million customers in over 1.4 million homes and business across Wales.

That means cleaning and delivering more than 800 million litres of water every day. Supplying safe drinking water is our most important responsibility and this means that our tap water must be free from harmful chemicals and bacteria and have a good taste.

During your time as a Graduate, you will learn the foundations of leadership, effective team building and working together on how to lead and work effectively with others. These roles are primarily based in our Water and Waste Services departments where you will spend 4 x 6 months in different business areas. This will be complemented by Career Safaris to give you maximum exposure to Welsh Water.

Your Welsh Water Management Graduate Programme will provide you with the opportunity to further develop your skills, knowledge and experience. As part of your 6-month placement, here’s some of the departments / projects that you could be involved with;

  • Water and Waste Services
  • Improvement projects
  • Change programmes
  • Developing business awareness

Your development

As a part of your programme, you will take part in a number of soft skills workshops, including the following:

  • Presentation Skills
  • Effective Team Working
  • Resilience
  • Personal Branding
  • Time Management
  • Problem Solving
  • Managing Difficult Conversations

In addition, you will be given the opportunity to work on a variety of projects with your fellow graduates. These will allow you to develop your interpersonal and leadership skills, whilst working collaboratively with your peers. You will also be given the opportunity to work on key business projects within your specialised field.
