CNN Internship Programme…

As one of the world's news leaders we are interested in creative and energetic people with diverse perspectives and talents. Our global team creates content consumed by millions of people every day, and with tectonic changes in the world, news and impactful storytelling are more important now than ever. A successful CNN intern is committed to quality journalism, has strong knowledge of international issues, a keen interest in the digital media landscape, and a sharp eye for the stories that spark conversation on a daily basis.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside a team of dedicated and experienced journalists, attend regular editorial meetings and participate in the editorial process.
We offer 12 internships at our central London Bureau. We are looking for CNN's future: people with fresh ideas, innovative viewpoints, a willingness to work hard, and a commitment to the highest standards of journalism.

The internships are designed for journalism graduates or candidates from a related field seeking a career in journalism.

Your New Role...


Our team is made up of visual journalists, data journalists, developers and designers, we combine storytelling, data and design to create compelling interactive features, dataviz, mapping and illustrations for news stories.



Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Creating wireframes of interactive websites and concepts for new ways of digital visual storytelling
  • Visualising those designs as working prototypes and creating posts and managing our CNN Creative Instagram account, and Visuals landing pages
  • Working with rest of team to creatively develop and maintain our design system / component library for visual storytelling


Qualifications & Experience...

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate design and/or journalism design degree (not essential), vocational training and/or ability to illustrate a portfolio of work / content (eg: blogs, podcasts, YouTube Channel etc)
  • Being creative, and interested about exploring new forms of visual journalism
  • Working in team environments, ideally to strict deadlines
  • Ability to work quickly, managing time and multiple priorities effectively
  • Be proactive and ready to throw themselves in to any task, and eager to learn new skills


The Internship...

  • Salary: £28,000 p/a (pro-rata)
  • Contract Length: 6 months
  • Start Date: Likely to be 3rd March 2025
  • You will gain hands-on experience working on business-critical projects. 
  • You will have access to personal and professional development courses, executive speakers’ series, special screenings and more. 
  • You will be part of our WBD Early Talent network of over 100 interns & apprentices, meaning you will have an important support network of other students, graduates and apprentices and plenty of opportunities to socialise!  

Next Steps… 

  • Stage 1: Submit your CV by Sunday 15th December (you will not be able to apply after this date). 
  • Stage 2: For eligible candidates, you will be invited to complete a written questionnaire in HireVue. The deadline for this is Sunday 5th January.
  • Stage 3: Interviews will take place in January & February. 

Due to the volume of applications we receive we are unable to provide individual feedback, but if you are unsuccessful we will aim to let you know within 8 weeks of the closing date. 

Onsite Working - This role is advertised as Onsite, meaning all working hours and days (regardless of shift pattern) will be carried out at the place of work. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement, where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
